Deep Well Drilling Machine , Sustainable Access to Safe Drinking Water in Afghanistan

Afghanistan is facing a growing groundwater crisis due to rapid population growth, over-extraction of aquifers, and the impacts of climate change. In many areas, groundwater levels have dropped significantly, causing shallow wells to dry up and forcing communities to rely on unsafe and unreliable water sources.

Families in rural, peri-urban, and informal settlements often depend on unregulated wells that are highly vulnerable to contamination from latrines, open sewage, and industrial waste. This has contributed to the spread of waterborne diseases, particularly among children.

This project addresses the urgent need for safe drinking water through deep well drilling, accessing stable aquifers that are less exposed to surface contamination. When combined with solar-powered pumping systems and protective infrastructure, deep wells provide a sustainable and long-term solution.

Mezan Charity Foundation (MCF) provides its own deep well drilling machines for the implementation of this project, along with experienced technical staff. This significantly reduces costs while ensuring high-quality execution, enabling vulnerable communities across Afghanistan to gain reliable access to clean and safe drinking water.
